Why are my iPhone photos HEIC?
Since iOS 11, iPhones save photos in the High Efficiency Image Format (HEIC) by default. It keeps similar quality at roughly half the size of JPG, but many Windows apps, older Android phones, websites and print shops still cannot open it. Converting to JPG is the simplest way to share those photos anywhere.
